ACs: Low profile vs regular height??

I'm in the process of buying 2 new a/c. Don't know if $500 extra per a/c is worth it. Looking for some input please.

Well, decided to buy the regular height Coleman a/c's rather than the low profile one's. #1 reason was they are not as noisy #2 I got them for $650 each complete. It's in the shop now should be ready by Thursday.

It is mostly about appearance and noise.. Taller units seem a little quieter.. Anything you'd hit with low profile unit you'll probably hit with taller unit, as difference is only a couple inches and well below standard overpasses..

Air conditioner

Could I ask where you bought the new AC as I"m checking vendors for prices now. I'm located in the Bay City, Tx. area. Thanks,

There is no AC made that is as ugly as those hoods that go over roof vents. I was camping in FL there other day and there has a slide in camper that had an AC unit that sounded like a jet engine. I never heard anything like it before. It cycled on and off which made it even more irritating. I hear more complaints about the low profile units than any other. I think they have two fans to fail as opposed to one. If two fans go out it is probably not worth fixing.

I don't find the low profile I put on my trailer a year or so ago to be any noisier than a "regular" height unit. It is a Dometic Penguin, and only has one fan motor. I think the aesthetics of a low profile unit become more important the shorter the trailer is. For a trailer long enough to warrant two AC units, the low vs high profile is not going to be anywhere near as noticeable as on a Bambi.

I got the units at Crestview RV In Buda, Tx just 5 miles south of Austin for $650 each including upper and lower as for Joe in parts. Install was $250 each. Camper clinic ll is across the highway but PLEASE don't go there. They will ruin your RV as they are clueless in their service dept.

Other than simply bad-mouthing Camper Clinic…. can you be more specific..??

Their Reviews are quite good according to other users…AND they are Airstream and Thor DEAlers.

Crestview is NOT an Airstream Dealer.
