AC/Heat Pump Replacement

My AC/Heat Pump died @ a month ago and I've contacted a dealer about getting the unit replaced. I want to go with the 15K vs the 13.5K currently installed.

So I got an estimate from the dealer that sounds fairly high to me. Specifically, the price quote total is $2,194.51 as attached.

All of the individual items are substantially higher than you can purchase online, which is somewhat understandable given that a dealer probably can't get the discounts an online vendor can. However, they still seem high and I'm also concerned about the extra "Shop Supplies" charge of $143.57 that's in addition to the separate "labor" charge and the separate pricing for the individual components.

Any thoughts?

BTW, why does Air Forums require logging in a second time. I logged in and did a search for AC/Heat Pump Replacement and was taken to a list of possible threads. When I clicked on the threads, I was taken to the thread, but then had to login again - irritating. Also, I just clicked on "Manage Attachments" and was taken to another page telling me I had to login again - WTH? Also clicked on "Submit New Thread" and was taken to a blank page. Opened another Air Forums page and this thread was not posted . . .

Here is my blog post on swapping my 13.5K to a 15K. I did the project myself. AC cost me right at $900, so that estimate is really high.

I wish I could do the install myself, but I'm out in the boonies on my remote property and getting the old unit off and a new unit on would be pretty hard to do, which is the only reason I'm looking at having the dealer do the install.

The lowest price I've found online is currently at RV Parts Country - $1,028.00.00.

I'm going to email the dealer to see about getting better pricing.

MSRP/Suggested pricing is such a joke. Go to 10 different retailers and find 10 different MSRP/Suggested prices. Vendors make up those prices to try to convince consumers they're getting a deal.

Keep in mind the H/P is not unique to AS. Any competent RV shop could install it. FWIW

I just had my 13.5 replaced. I paid $250 for labor that included moving my Easy Start over to the new unit and going through the "learn" process. Your quote seems pretty high.
