AC Ducts Blowing out white dust

2015 Flying Cloud - when I turn on AC or heat pump white dust particles blow out. Any idea what this is? Is this usual?

Thanks,

Glenn

Sounds like little pieces of Styrofoam. Does the dust cloud stop after a few minutes, or does it continue as long as you run the unit?

Have you cleaned the return air filters? These are the rectangle ones on the ceiling. When used a lot these actually need to be cleaned about every two weeks. We have a 2015 FC and found this out while traveling this summer for about 8 weeks. Dust was everywhere, I pulled one off and it was actually almost clogged it was so dusty.

I get my finger under one corner and pop it off by pulling down. They are held in place by three clips (if I remember correctly) and once started come off easily. We have one which does not come off easily so I take a towel put it under a flat nosed screwdriver and get the cover started that way and then use my fingers.

They pop right back on once cleaning is done. I also take a small shop vac and vacuum as far up inside the vent as I can.

We have a 2015 Flying Cloud 25FB with the ducted air conditioning system. We bought her new about thirteen months ago.

We have used this trailer quite a bit (18,000 miles/190 nights of camping). We have not experienced the whit dust situation that you describe.

I would definitely first try cleaning the a/c return filter. We have been doing this regularly. I try to vacuum the air return filters from the outside every week or so. I also remove the filter for a thorough cleaning every month or two.

Here is a photo of the vent and filter removed for cleaning.

We have the same issue with a 2015 International Serenity 25FB. The white dust is only coming out of the ducts above the table. It started on our second trip with the trailer - and it occurs whether you're running the A/C or the heat pump. I pulled the filters after the second trip and they were clean.

I contacted the dealer and Jackson Center and both said they'd never heard of such a thing and told us to take it to an authorized repair center for Dometic.

Since it was early in the season and upper management didn't want to clean it out to take it to a service center, we opted to keep using it (it's under warranty) and buy a Milwaukee battery powered shop vac to clean up the dust while in use.

Cleaning out the duct filters seems to have worked - it also was just the vents above the table.

We had that white dust come out and cover everything overtime we used the air conditioner for the first two years. In frustration I finally took the entire interior air conditioning shroud and vacuumed it all out. It looked like stuff left over from when JC cut the hole for the air conditioner??? Looked like small pieces of white plastic or styrofoam? Also cleaned the filters, etc, and have not had any problem since.
