Ditto on Tampa Airstream. We purchased a slightly used 2018 FC 20FB from them, and it wasn’t a pleasant experience. Right up to the minute we hitched up and asked if we could top off the fresh water tank as our first night was to be a boondock. Sales manager said they didn’t have water...

If you can budget in the drive to J.D.Saunders north of Gainesville, you might consider it.

Well-respected dealer.

Contrast that with Colonial. They were great. When we arrived to take delivery, our 23D was plugged into electric with everything running and ready to demonstrate. Our first trip was boondocking also. The water tank was filled. They spent a lot of time with us going through everything about the trailer, hitch setup and all. Very professional. I think the dealer can make all the difference.

RV One Airstream of Tampa

Beware - If Thor had any interest in listening to their loyal owners, they would pull the Tampa franchise from RV One. Abominable customer service.

Update in Tampa Airstream service

I posted a very poor review on the service department at Tampa Airstream a few months ago.
I want to update that post. Tampa AS recieved all the parts under warrenty, called to set up a appointment and did work with me to ge the unit repaired before we had to leave to come back north. They did admit they need to hire and train more tech. The one's on hand are outstanding just not enough of them.

I had looked at buying a 27 Globetrotter from Tampa RV. Have not pulled the trigger yet but have been called by 4 (yes 4) new sales people saying the person I had talked to before was no longer there and wanting to know if they could help me. Very high turn over there is my guess.

Or a bit of customer sniping by the new sales people. Hard to tell from outside the dealership.

I agree with the high turn over at Tampa AS. Most of the experance saleforce stayed with the Tampa RV same company because of the larger inventory, higher volume they sell Jayco. Most of the sale force I have seen were just first time sales people with no experance. My guess is they were just out of college.

The service department is very good but understaffed.

My 2000 excellent needs a pair of 18” kitchen drawer glides. They didn’t have them in stock. Quoted $68 for the pair. Called Sanders in Alachua $12.74 for the pair they shipped them to me the next day.
If you are dealing with RV One the Tampa Airstream’s dealer, hope you enjoy your experience

WOW.......I know this thread is over two years old, but DANG. Wondering now what did I get into with AS of Tampa. How about some new posts, I certainly hope they have improved GREATLY over the last two years or I may have to reconsider. I mean almost all the posts in this thread are bad.

I'm fairly certain someone listened to the complaints. I've had three service visits to Airstream of Tampa in the last 2 years and every one has been excellent. The service department staff are friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The work has been done well. I have nothing but good to say about them. We're buying a new-to-us Airstream in the next few weeks and I plan to bring it to Tampa for some upgrades and work.

I suggest you give them a chance.

Jim

Great news, I'm glad to hear good stuff, because so far the whole sales experience has been fantastic and I do really want to stick with them.

I had a great experience and highly recommend AS of Tampa. Jason (Financial) - Jessica & Sue (Sales) - Kris & Andrew (PDI & Service) were all great.

Angry

The Day I was about to buy a used Airstream from a individual in Florida I received a call from Beth from Airstream of Tampa. She had a trailer Airstream with everything I wanted and she quoted me a price on the phone.
She stated I needed to make a decision that it would be gone by end of day. We said we would take it and called and cancelled our other airstream. Later she tells us that we had to finance with them for 6 months so they could get a kick back. This would be make us pay thousands more in interest. We were planning on paying cash and if we did finance it would be with our credit union with a lower rate. I would of never said I would buy this airstream if I had known it was going to cost me more then what was quoted to us. This was a Bait and Switch deal. I have a hard time believing that dealers are out there that get away with this. We lost the the one we were originally going to buy and I refuse to finance when I have the money so they can get a kick back. I own a business and know that this is unethical!

Unfortunately this is the reputation that RV One has. And, based on your expereince, apparently earned!

Pretty much anytime I am told “you need to make a decision on this purchase right now”, my decision is not to make that purchase.

I am of a similar belief. I take 24 to 48 hours to ponder my decision, especially if there is no clause to get out of the deal as in real estate

Can't speak to the past, but I have had recent experience with sales, finance, service and parts and Karen(parts) was conscientious to a fault(a big compliment), Sue was great from a sales perspective(and follow up on service related issues) and Lauren was great from a financing perspective. They are having staffing challenges as others are(service techs are being sent to Tampa from other dealerships) so I'd assume the epicenter of the AS expertise does sit in Tampa. Use that as a benchmark in Florida at least.

In regards to bait and switch or aggressive tactics on the sales side, you have to consider the current state of Airstream inventory. It's NOT bait and switch and it's not heavy handed sales when the next person in line WILL pay cash or WILL finance and not hang the phone up. That's reality the sales person is being HONEST with you. It's your problem if you don't recognize reality and position yourself to be the "lucky" one or "in the right place at right time."

If you review the forums and other groups, you'll see what happens when people are not ready to buy when a unit is staring them in face at list or marked up. Nothing but regret. The good thing about the environment right now is even if you don't get the exact one you're looking for, the market for a used should be good moving forward in terms of marketability and resale value.

On the flip side, I've had a completely underwhelming service experience in Alachua and an even more underwhelming experience on the pre-sales side with Orlando. I would not go back or deal with either until proven otherwise. I sense part of it is staffing and lack of time in the AS system.

Although I am new to the Airstream community and ecosystem, I think you have to devour the manuals and use some street smarts to get what you need out of corporate, the dealership you bought from and also be willing to pull a string or go over someone's head tactfully and respectfully.

Be reasonable, realize staffing and supply shortages are a challenge(especially to a strong brand like Airstream) and balance being patient with some empathy and situational awareness. Be adaptable and willing to drive further or meet the dealership half way if you sense they are doing their best to accommodate your issue.

When I first heard I could not get back in for a follow up within days of purchase, I was upset - however, with time passing and allowing corporate, service, my warranty plan, technical support, etc, I came to realize that some things were not as "urgent" as I made then out to be and there was some user error(me!) involved that worked itself out. Fortunately, I didn't let my initial anger out of the bag or onto forums or name names. I would have been completely in the wrong and an a-hole.
