A Lookover....

I have a 67 Safari 22' that is in remarkably good condition. Was treated with tender loving care along the way. However I live near Brainerd Minnesota and wondered where I could take it to have them check out all the systems for me to see what kind of shape it is in etc. Does anyone know where I could do this reliably?

Thanks,

Eric Sisler

Hi and welcome to the "club". Certainly hope you enjoy the addiction as much as the rest of us. Some are more addicted than others and they can be the most help so put on your seatbelt!

I recall a dealership in Anoka but not its name. I was there a few years ago before I made the plunge and the people with whom I dealt were cordial and seemed knowledgable. You might give them, at least, a telephone interview.

Welcome Eric,
I think the only AS dealer in MN is Shorewood RV in Anoka 763-421-2505
My AS isn't far from you if you're in Brainerd. I keep it up on Spirit Lake about 6 mi south of Aitkin.

Eric,

Take it to Hart RV in Long Prairie. http://www.hartrv.com/

They were an Airstream dealer for a long time. They no longer sell them, but the legacy is alive.

A Lookover

Thanks for some advice you guys.... What are the most likely systems to worry about or to be concerned with? I'm thinking my electrical, my propane, my water, and furnace, and brakes

I will echo markdoane's recommendation for Hart RV. Many standard RV dealers decline to work on Airstreams even though the subsystems are virtually the same. Hart is a good resource in that they have the Airstream knowledge and are willing. The Anoka RV dealer doesn't have as good a reputation for vintage.

I think the things to get checked are wheel bearings, tires, brakes and turn signals. That will let you haul it to a nearby trailer service shop for a more thorough inspection.

I towed my '59 from St Cloud to Minnetonka (60 miles) after repacking the bearings and wiring the lights. It had not moved in 20 years. The tires were ok for a short trip but blew out on the next trip.
