Brand new to the forum

Just acquired a 1974 argosy 28 foot trailer in decent condition for 40 yrs old

Intend to restore and hope to get some good advice from this forum

Pics attached. Everything still works except the gas/elect fridge

Couple of rough spots but I think I can do something with this

Welcome to the forums and to Argosy ownership.
Looks like a very nice trailer. I know you will enjoy it as much as the rest of us.
I think your 74 might be a 75. I only say this because my 74 does not have the vista windows. However I may be wrong if that was a change in the middle of a model year. The vin number tells the year. This thread is a list of Argosy vins. Please add yours.

Looking at your pics, someone changed the original tail light. But that's not a bad thing. The original plastic housing cracks after 40 years. I was able to fix mine but it already has a few hairline cracks in it. In hindsight I should have changed to something like yours.

I'm sure you figured out already, this forum is a wealth of info. Never hesitate to ask anything.

And again welcome. Nice to see more Argosy and Airstream owners.

Thanks for the info Geo

The title lists it as a 74
Vin # is 28D4V0609

My daughter and I are looking forward to getting into this restore.
Tail lights were indeed changed by previous owner

My first order of business is installing a complete new belly pan

When I get back home later this week, I will take and send some pics of the existing (non-existing) belly pan

Thanks again for the info

I love that your daughter is helping. My daughter use to help me until she started her own family. We even build our current house. Everything but the foundation.
I don't know how much belly pan is missing, but it may be worth the extra work to remove the rest first, to see if there is any frame rot and or rotted sub floor. The norm seems to be that some outriggers need to be replaced. I was fortunate to only have surface rust that I cleaned off and then painted. My sub floor was another story.

Keep the updates, pic's, questions, etc. coming.

ID:	238117l need to replace/repair some of the underbelly

Thinking of removing all and spraying with a rhino liner type substance.
Subfloor is still in good solid shape

Thoughts
