On my 1966
Magic Chef, the small constant pilot is turned on manually with a valve under the cooking top. When the oven is turned on, a row of pilot flames below the thermocouple is switched on, and once the thermocouple heats up, the main burner is actuated as demanded to meet the temperature setting.
The constant pilot needs to be lit with the main oven control ( temperature knob on range face ) off, and produces a small blue flame just large enough to remain lit.
Attached is a pic of the constant pilot, followed by a picture of the warmer pilot that lights a few seconds after the main burner is called for.
