'64 Overlander, rear bath

We are in the process of completely replacing our copper tubing in our 1964 overlander international with Pex. We are having problems in the rear bath trying to remove the faucetts. The bath and sink enclose the fixtures. Does anyone have any experience that could help us and how to remove the sink top to get to the fixtures. We would appreciate any info. Thanks lots.

On a '64 safari you work blind. In through the rear access door. There should be a small opening up through the fiberglass. Just enough room to get one hand/ arm up to the faucets. Disconnect the supply lines, then the two large nuts that hold the faucet to the counter top. Not easy. The sink counter top on mine was riveted to the fiberglass tub surround from the back. To remove the counter top the whole unit had to be disconnected and pulled forward to disassemble. IF its any help the only way I could get into a position to work on mine in place was to lay a 4X8 plywood on blocks behind the bumper. That allowed me to lay down and get the proper angles to get an arm up in!!!! Expect some fiberglass strands in your forearm. Good luck......
