'60s Airstream Office

Good evening!

First I would like to apologize if I inadvertently break any Airstream taboos. This is my first post and I am as noob as a noob can get.

Here is my story. My grandparents started a bluegrass music festival 38 years ago and now I carry on the tradition.

The reason for posting this on an Airstream forum is that for the entire 38 year history, the Festival office has been a 1960's 16' or 17' foot Airstream. This Airstream is always placed square in the middle of the concert area and serves as the HQ for the entire base of operation for our Festival crew. The 10,000 people that attend the Festival over the course of the even know and love this Airstream.

The interior (and exterior for the matter) is almost entirely original. The only modification that has been made is that the carpet was replaced about 15 to 20 years ago. It has been stored in a climate controlled building for 30 year, except for the 1 time a year that it is used as the Festival office. The only problem is that the original interior of these campers is not the best suited as use as an office.

So basically, I am coming here for a little advice on what I can do to turn this 50 year old camper into a usable office but maintaining as much of the original condition as possible.

Thoughts?

What an interesting life this trailer has had. Of course to help we will need photos of this little trailer at work, preferably with a few bluegrass musicians and fans in its surrounds.

If this was always used as an office and that has worked before, why change it now? ( just look what happened to country music when they started messin' with it!)

Without seeing the mini uffizi I would say expand the canopy area as part of the working area and leave the interior part for private work. (naps)

Waiting for photos

This is just my personal opinion but I think your trailer needs a 'stunt double' stand in when it comes time for trashing any of the originals' interior.

The value of a driven-once-a-year 1960's 17-foot trailer in near original condition may not be huge dollar wise but stands nearly irreplaceable time and effort wise.

It sounds great.

You probably have a Bambi or a Caravel. If it has a front couch or the dinette...that would be a good place for the table/desk. Good access to the door and not much disruption. For other things....if its like any other Bluegrass Festival I have been to....you need:
A. A refridgerator that works.
B. An air conditioner that works well.
C. Some armless chairs/stools ...several...you know why.
D. Install a Fantastic vent fan in the front vent space.
E. A toilet....with a Blue Boy tank in reserve.
D. Install a vinyl type floor...absolutely no carpet. Mud, you know.
E. A QUIET generator if your away from electricity.
F. Install some additional electric outlets near the table area.
G. Have a weather radio....your the boss here....take care of the folks.
