1969 31' Sovereign

I am new to Airstreams. This spring a friend needed to sell his Airstream fast because he was in a bind. So I bought it to help him in a pinch. I moved it to a nearby campground and it became my home away from home. The Airstream has been in his family since 1969, when his grandparents bought it new. The antenna is bent, a few pieces of hardware are missing, screens are tattered and the fridge doesn't work. Otherwise all of the original fixtures and components are there. Some of the interior panels have been painted. The floors are solid. I am trying to decide weather to restore what is there or gut it and replace the whole interior. Any input on which fork in the road to take is desired.

There are a few outfits that rebuild the guts of refrigerators. If it just does not run but is otherwise in good shape, it may be worth rebuilding. Certainly a cosmetic fix up will be a lot cheaper. Which ever direction you go, though, it will probably cost you a lot more than you think.

If you are planning on taking the Sovereign on the road there will be additional expenses such axles and tires.
