1968 Silver Streak Continental Rocket Interior Skin Question

Hello, I am brand new to this! I just bought a 1968 Silver Streak (Continental Rocket) and my brother is helping me reno it. (He's the handy guy with the tools!) Before we start disassembling the interior I have a question about the interior skin. Do most people carefully remove the skin (we want to better insulate it and it needs some rewiring) and then reinstall the interior skin and paint it or do you buy new interior skin? I am on a budget (aren't most people) and want to make sure we do this as correctly. What kind of insulation do you think is best? We haven't touched anything inside yet. I would be most grateful for your advice! Thank you! ~ Rocket Cramer

1968 Silver Streak Continental Rocket Interior Skin Question

There are some some restoration threads on Silver Streak trailers. Most Iva e read is that removal and replace should be the plan.

Replace with the old skin or get a new skin? Or replace with the old skin? If you get a new skin, does anyone have any idea where to get it?

I knew they were out of business I just wonder what other materials people use. I just hope mine is all intact.

There's not really any reason it wouldn't be that isn't obvious.

Remember that everything came in and out the doorway. I think of it as a puzzle to work

And it will take three times as long and cost twice what you plan.

Have you read and PMd the other SS thread originators?

Understood. Insulation not so bad in stock form. Dial back renovation IMO.

OK, take a deep breath. You're not facing a huge single project. You're blessed with a bunch of little ones!

Plus, the demolition's the fun part! Re-using the panels would certainly be cheaper, and refinishing them outside the trailer will be easier - better light, better ventilation - and even if you change things in the interior, you'll still find that you'll use quite a bit of the old stuff. Be sure to take pictures of everything before tearing stuff out, and mark everything so you'll know where it goes when you go to install it months from now.

And, you'll have a clear picture of where everything is and the condition of everything behind the inside skin.

So now, get out there and tear your cute little trailer all to pieces! Have fun!
