The dance (2 steps forward , 2 steps back)
Everything is looking like it is progressing fast. We have a partial bathroom done. We repainted the medicine cabinet. I loved the lime green but it didn't go well with the mint green that my husband painted. The paint was supposed to be more of a Tiffany blue but instead ended up more "minty grey". Hubby also picked up wrong bathroom drain so off to the store we go! Then he discovered that his plan to run the pex plumming behind the wall won't work because he forgot about the sliding door. I came into the trailer and saw a lot of head scratching lol! Here are a few pics

I wonder what that white material is that you are using as a template for another bulkhead wall? I'm making a new bulkhead wall for behind the tub, and along the pocket door. I'm having trouble with mine. More head scratching. And yes, sink and tub drain assemblies come in all shapes and sizes. I had trouble finding the ones I needed.
There are several "do overs" in our Airstream renovations. For me, it is lack of experience and also lack of a detailed plan. But eventually, it all comes together.

Hi David
The white material for the template is actually the original laminate. My camera phone doesn't pick up the patern. Here is a closer look and the new "character mark" my husband made while removing removing it from the original wood.

Cabinetry has begun!
It has been a while since I posted. The bathroom is 90% done( we are waiting for the toilet that we have on order.) We also need to reinstall the doors and shelves.
The wheel wells have been covered and we now have a working pocket door. It still needs some paint. It will be a temporary fix until my husband can make another(prettier) door. I am really happy that I convinced him to sand and reuse the old wood trim!
The end cap has been painted. I love the yellow!

Soon to complete the bathroom 100% is a big milestone. Having light and bright colors go a long way in brightening up the interior and making it look roomy. Looking good. Bubba

Work, work, work. It eventually comes together. Thanks for the description of the bathroom wall material. I FINALLY got my assembled just today. My pocket door works better now that I corrected several reasons for the binding, but you reminded me I need to secure the "header" the pocket door is hung from better.
I painted my bathroom "toilet white". Artistic I ain't. I'm hopeful the towels, shower curtain, bathroom shade, and floor rug will give it some decorating.

Progress report
Work on the Airstream is still chugging along. We had a few head scratching moments.
The frame on the overhead bins is done. Hubby will start to work on the bed frame tonight. I will begin to apply tung oil to the wood. I also need to paint the edges of the bathroom doors.
You also discover the history of your Airstream as you renovate it! We found a price sticker for a RV dealership that operated in Nova Scotia so we know that it was possibly part of the Airstream caravans that I would see parked at the local mall every summer for a day or two when I was a kid.
We still have a lot of work to do! The closer we are to the finish line the further away it seems to be.

Cabinets ,beds and plumbing
Here is a quick update. My husband is working hard on the cabinets. We have kept everything pretty much the same as the original layout.
It was kind of exciting to bring in some our camping equipment to see if it will fit in the Airstream. Everything fits yay!
By the end of the weekend, we will hopefully have all or some appliances in.
We are at the point where my husband can't think of anything else that needs to be ordered ahead of time.

Hi There,
Looks like you're having plenty of fun. One of the nice things about your vintage and size is that it fits into the sweet spot of Airstream's entire production history. The five-segment late sixties trailers are very fine.
The bath cabinet door edges you are painting can be easily edged with common 1/2" aluminum channel. Those edges become pretty ratty after fifty years. Mine needed more than paint.
It's great that you're restoring your "Penthouse" bath. It's a remarkable configuration, certainly worth preservation. Without a doubt, the smartest rear bath Airstream ever imagined.
BTW, It never ends...

You folks are getting ahead of me now. My Overlander sits forlorn in the shop waiting for some action. I do have the new shower wall done. The next step is installing the tub that must fit up to the drain pipe, and must fit up to the shower valve console, and must fit up to the shower wall, and must fit up to the facia board on the side of the tub. The tub is also sloped to the drain that is established by the plywood platform it sits on. Once the tub is installed, the other bathroom parts will go a bit quicker.
Summer activities are consuming my time at the moment.

Wow I love what you have done with your bathroom. That looks really nice. We painted the edges. It turned out pretty good but if the paint doesn't stick in the future, it is good to know there is an alternative .
We will be modernizing the front a bit but I agree that the bathroom had to stay.

Hey David
There are some days when I wish summer activities got in the way of our Airstream but my husband looks so happy when he is working on the Airstream. I believe there is a name for the condition

1967 Overlander renovation (the full Monty)
Yup. Aluminiumitis. It is absolutely incurable, and darn near the entire forum population has it to varying degrees.
But hey, it keeps me out of the bars and from running around with loose wimmin. (Mainly from a total lack of time or energy to do so...[emoji3][emoji56])

That is the condition I have been hearing about. I thought my husband wouldn't catch it so bad but I should have known better If he starts talking about the next one, I will know that he can't be saved

Bathroom is done!
Hi here is a quick update. The bathroom is done (except the shower rod). Most of the plumbing is done. We still have to connect the water tank to the rest of the pipes. Kitchen cabinets are done on one side. Next step will finishing the cabinets in the "kitchen", finish the plumbing and start on the windows.

The mint color looks good with the original striped melamine. My melamine laminate is brownish, so wood trim and Pirelli coin rubber for the floor completed the bland color scheme.
The shower rod that I configured worked out really well. I don't know if you stumbled onto that thread, it's worth a look. You might adjust the pole location, since it looks like you're not using the "dressing seat" over the toilet.

Really like your solution for tub faucet. Not too many folks figure out that the hole centers are the same as old clawfoot tubs... The caternary drape of the shower hose is nice. Airstream designers missed that in their original configuration. Ignorantly, they flipped the fixture over and switched hot and cold handles which stressed the Alson hose with a double curve. In the installation literature it specifically warns against the way Airstream did.

Working overtime on your Overlander. Your 67 design bath came out very well. The 66 model year bath was the earlier design and not near as nice in my view. Now you are really ahead of me on my project. My bath sits in pieces on the shop floor. It will be awhile before I get back to work on it. Too many summer activities and no overtime work.
My 75 Overlander also has light brown melamine laminate on all the walls and cabinetry. I did not realize the 68s had that too. I wonder what year the melamine came to production. Some folks talk about the 60s trailers having "real wood" interiors. My 66 was all wood. Actually the wife's 86 is also all "real wood". Hickory to be exact. The cabinetry has held up very well through the years. I looked at a 79 Ambassador that had a lot of delaminated laminate on the walls and cabinets. It wasn't holding up well at all. Buy my 75 has no delamination.
