The crown jewel (kept secret from my wife until right after the ceremony):

After a few years off, I'm starting this renovation up again. Furniture and floor is out again. Currently doing some tests to decide how to finish the Coosa board I got to replace the temporary plywood floor.

Goals for this phase: install finished floor and stabilize the frame to prevent the rust the came back as well as reinforce the spare tire rack (which is wobbling and cracking the bumper). How the bumper survived all these years without a more stable spare rack is beyond me, but I'm going to take care of it!

More soon....

So I took the wedding floor out because I have some Coosa Board to put in as subfloor. My belly pan redesign worked beautifully to allow me to take out the floor and drop the pan without drilling out any buck rivets. Very happy about that. With the floor off I was also about to inspect the frame. Seems like the only rust was on the tongue and bumper. I’ll still add more coats of paint before sealing everything back up though.

Speaking of bumper.... not sure if anyone else has had this issue but my bumper started cracking due to the wobble of the spare tire rack. Maybe back in the day this wasn’t a problem due to lower car speeds? But w the anti-sway, leveler, and higher speed limits, the spare tire wobled all over the place and started cracking the bumper. So I added a reinforcement feature connecting the bumper to the last frame stringer. It’s pretty solid now. The bottom piece here can be unscrewed to allow the belly pan to go on/off.

Also my license plate holder was in the way and prevented the rear window from opening. So my friendly metal worker came up with this nifty mod

And now that the metal work is done it’s time to start cutting Coosa!

Thanks! Pretty into it myself. In my dream of dreams it would be lighter, but it’s pretty awesome as is
