1961 Caravan

Hello everyone I am brand new to the site, glad to be apart of this community.
I am looking at buying a 1961 caravan airstream. It seems to be all original. It has a dent on the top front from snow. Floor looks a bit rough.
I have restored 2 old trailers so far so I understand what goes into a restoration. However, I don’t know much about airstreams. Is caravan a good model? It’s smaller and I know smaller ones are more desirable.
I am trying to figure out what it is worth the way it sits so I don’t pay to much for it. If anyone can help me out I would appreciate it.
I have attached a few pictures.

Thank you in advance,

Steve

What you have there is accross the board desirable, difficult to find today in any condition and will be more so tomorrow. No question the dent is a problem. Had near the same on our '64. Most likley why that one is still for sale. Very doubtfull you'll find replacement panels. That said IF the panels are not streched to bad they can be repaired. For me that ment removing them, GENTLY pushing back the dents then spending hours finishing them on an english wheel. I expect if you try to remove the interior shins and push it out you will have very visible creases. If I was'nt finishing the last on I'll ever do I'd surely grab one like that in a second. I agree with 6T4, 4K would be fine for me if the door, door frame & window frames are OK. Those items are hard to get also. Rare find!

Nice looking trailer aside from the endcap. To repair it the panels will need to come off and be replaced if they can be found or repaired on an english wheel by someone who knows what they are doing.
I know a guy who does that work but mainly repairs less damaged (hail) panels.
You said the floor is rough, how rough? If this is a shell off floor and frame repair then you are looking at loads of work.
Is this a trailer you want to keep or repair and sell?

Good point on the floor & amount of work. Didn't give it a thought. Saw what it is and thought Wow what a find! Seeing it from the point of view that floor & insulation, hull insulation, wiring are just s o p tossed & replaced, frame checked and painted. Man, even Calif built, got the badge & wheel arch.
