1957 FC, Help removing Roof Vent Screens

Hi Everyone, I picked up a 57 Flying Cloud that has been sitting for a number of years. So far so good, It looks like it should clean up well and seems structurally sound, at this point anyway. I am trying to clean it up and understand what is here and what might not be.

Can anyone tell me how to remove the screens from the 3 roof vents? It appears you have to remove the twist handles on the vent and the screen will drop down, is this correct? If so, are there set screws or something holding them on? I see 2 holes, but was hoping someone had done this before. They have a bunch of dried out Moths than need to go!

Thanks Dave

Congrats on your new to you FC. Post some pictures so we can all share in your find.

As for the screens, the T handle just pulls straight down and is held in place similar to a socket on a rachet with the spring loaded ball. Keep asking questions, we're here for you.

Congrats on your Flying Cloud. There is a small set screw(allen head) on the handle too. Try to get a little WD-40 up there fist and let it soak for a bit. It will help.

Start a new thread under the heading of something like "My '57FC Restoration" and post away. You can keep updating it as you progress in your refurbishment.

let us know if you need assistance.
