1953 Flying Cloud Full Interior Restoration

I have begun a full interior restoration of my 53' Flying Cloud. Removed everything and then began to remove the floor discovering that much of the frame is covered in rust. Need suggestions about what to do about this. I plan on wire brushing it all to remove as much as possible and may have to weld in some new metal on the severely damaged areas. Anyone recommend a paint that will make sure this does not happen again after all my hard work. Also need to know the best way to get new plywood installed without having to remove the entire belly-pan or take it off the frame to put the floor on.

POR 15 is the way to go in my opinion. It can be purchased at Vintage Trailer Supply. If you use the Marine Clean and the Metal Ready, you will not find a better way to protect the frame in the future. Good luck, looking forward to more pictures!

There's a great thread on in the 'How To' section dealing with shell-on floor replacement. I've been using it as a guide as I'm replacing the floor in my '51 Flying Cloud. You might also check out Loctite's rust converter for your frame rust if it's not too far gone.
