Yeeouch!!

Do yourself a favor. Shop around!

For $14,000 it may be worth your time to do a little traveling for the repair.

If $14,000 is the right price for the repair you'll want it done by the people who know what they are doing so it looks perfect.

If you post pictures I'm sure others who have done similar damage will tell you what their repair cost and Andy may be able to give you a ball park guesstimate based on the photo. Remember though these will be based on a photo and that is not as accurate as an in person inspection.

Thanks guys
Hey Andy....wish we were in southern california!
What happens with the insurance?....Manteca "estimated" the 14,000 off the top of his head when I brought it in yesterday. You're saying more like 6,000 vs. 14,000...what's the insurance co going to say???
The adjuster told me yesterday that he'll take pics and I bring it to the dealer of my choice and they'll handle the paperwork/cut the check.
Do you have a suggestion of a dealer in NC? PM me if you want.

I think most folks here would recommend a substantial road trip to be sure it gets done right. Sorry to hear of your loss. You'll have to live with it for a long time.

THe panels cost in the low thoushands but the labor to install them is extensive. I had a couple of panels replaced and the labor was more than half of the bill.
NC? your are looking for a dealer in North Carolina? or Nor Cal?

Shop around get references find out what kind of work was done and how happy they were with it.

Your insurance company will also give you a "towing allowance" to take the trailer to a dealer that is not in your neck of the woods.

They may balk at it, but all that is necessary is for you to tell them that you want the trailer to be like new, but there are no dealers in your area that can do that, in your opinion.

Andy

Have you considered a trip east? Say Ohio? The Factory. If you want a caravan partner... I can meet you on I-80 in December.

I know there are several places in So Cal that people rave about. Bellflower is one.

Hi, I would definately, only have three choices. I personally don't know of anyone else who goes this deep into Airstream repairs on a daily basis.

Andy..........................Inland R.V.

Rod........................Bellflower, Ca.

Jackson...............................Ohio

I took my trailer down to Andy recently to have an upper rear segment replaced. An excellent job, at a very good price... well worth the drive. 1 day down, 1 day back.

Highly recommended.

Pictures of my blunder

]Hi guys
Just took some pictures of my dents.
pic 4 shows the upper arm dent (not very big but is on the main side panel)
#12 lower arm bottom corner panel
#15 and 16 show the upper corner panel slightly indented (about 10" high..kinda hard to see from the photo)
So do all three panels need to be replaced?
Thanks

Hi, I thought the whole side of the trailer was ripped off. Let the insurance company take care of it since it's new. [2007] But if I had to pay for it [out of my pocket] I would just pop or tap out those areas where the awning brackets are and replace the awning brackets with new ones; And live with it. Not all that bad looking in your pictures.

I agree with previous posts try Los Banos, I found Manteca to not have the best service or even expertise when it came to my AS.

I agree with RobertSunUS. If you want the job done right and at a fair price it would be well worth a day off work (or Saturday) to make a trip down here to SoCal to drop off the trailer and have Andy (inland) or Rod (C&G) do the work. I know that Rod does major repair work as I've seen him repairing some pretty damaged AS's in my visits.

Well, anyway, that's my 2 cents worth.

Andy and C&G are what a five hour drive from you? Heck even if its eight hours the only place that can do a comparable job is the factory in Ohio.

People from other States make the trek to SoCal to have their trailers repaired by these guys. There is a reason.

Since your trailer is new and you have the insurance get it done by craftsmen and not service techs.

Or have the awning fixed and when asked about the body damage get a haunted look in your eyes and mumble something about Area 51 and a Federal Court gag order.
