Will this cause a problem?

The trailer brakes were wired with 14/2 braided wire, from the freshwater tank back he has replaced it with 14/2 solid copper. Are the 2 wires compatible? Something in hubby's gut says he should have used braided, but he was tired and let #2 son talk him into using the solid copper. He would rather know now because tomorrow he wants to but on the tires and haul the AS outside, to install the AC and fantastic fans this weekend.

Thanks Annette

Annette.

The wire size is compatible.

However the brake wires should only be "stranded wire."

That wire can and will move. Solid wire must "NEVER" move or it will break eventually.

Stranded wire is designed to be moved.

Have the husband change the brake wire to 14-2 "stranded."

Also have him tape up the spliced wire connection, very well, so that it cannot corroded, in time.

FWIW...I smear some clear silicone caulk or plumbers goop over the tape to seal from the weather. They're both just as good. I use whatever I have on hand at the time. Be sure to go up the wire al least 1/2 ".
