Thanks. Looks pretty nice. What size do the Airstream wheels take? Does the padlock save the rotochoks or the Airstream or both?

I have these, 10 seconds to put on and take off.
I have seen them advertised in the classifieds, I believe one of the forums members makes them.

I remembered seeing those in the classifieds in the past, but can't find the now. I bought a high and a low aluminum jack stand from that gentleman. I have been pleased with them.

I have a pair of big yellow plastic wedges that draw tight via a screw mechanism. I found them at camping world and use the both every time I park, even if it is level.

This is the one we use...they work very well! - I forgot and left one in place when moving our AS - when I felt the resistance I knew right away I'd forgotten something!

Easy to deploy and remove - it comes with it's own ratcheting socket/end wrench - and they are lockable to slow someone down a bit if they are trying to hitch up and steal your rig...

I use similar chocks that I bought from Hensley when we got our hitch.

The only concern I have with them is whether they can apply enough force to actually put an axle out of alignment so I don't wind them up really tight. After all, they are essentially an automotive scissors jack used sideways.

Not sure if my concern has any merit or not!

The wheelchocks shown on post 24 above can be found through ebay search "Airstream". These are the same or similar to the vintage chocks used in the 70s. It is a family business. If you don't see the chocks you probably will see a cast aluminum sewer hose holder. It is the same person. There are 2 sizes. The bigger one fit my 71 and 73.

We use two of the bal variety which use the racheting wrench.... But our airstream came with one of those aluminum ones, we have no idea how to use it! How do we find instructions?

Thinking of the all the forces that a wheel and axle are subject to while sitting, let alone starting, stopping, and turning, it doesn't seem to me that it would be a concern.

Since the object is just to keep the wheels from rotating, I would not think that much force would be required.

I have a pair of Roto Chocks and have been very happy with them. Easy to use, well built and seem to make the trailer more stable. Also if you have a Pro Pride or Hensley hitch it seems easier to hitch up with the chocks in place.

I don't understand the easy hitching part. It seems to me that with the chocks in place, I wouldn't be able to pick the tongue up and move it to where my wife is backing the truck.

I once had a trailer start rolling when I took out the chocks before hitched. Now I hitch first. I don't care what kind of hitch.

Hi Ken,

You are probably right - but when I first got my Hensley, I was having some trouble at times getting it hitched up and got in the habit of banging quite hard back into the trailer to hook up. I was inclined to do that when I read in the Hensley manual not to be afraid to do so! (I have since learned that if you take the time to line things up well and use a couple of "aids" to lining up, there is no need for excessive force.)

When I was doing that, I cranked those scissor jack chocks of quite hard to ensure the trailer would stay put - that was when it occurred to me that by their nature, those jacks were likely capable of generating considerable force and I should be careful with them.

I don't "reef" them up so much any more!

Same ones we have bmklawt. Came with the trailer when we bought it. I love them. Easy on and off, adjustable, no tools needed and the handle stays attached but when you release them they make a pretty small package that drops right into the bed of the truck. I use them all the time. Level site or not, they just add great stability and peace of mind when raising the front jack.
Guess it is just a personal choice, couple of 4 x 4's, cut to length, will also work.

Have used them since the first day with the Classic.....both sides.

Very secure...as you can tell, on a pretty steep angle in this pic.

I use them, and have seen two episode recently of folks not using them. Brand new Airstream Classic, unhooks on a not level pad, trailer drops and rolls into his truck bending his electric jack..then another fairly new Airstream, unhooked, wheel chocks, gust of wind, it rolled bent his leveling jacks badly. I have used these since I had a trailer drop off the ball and jack went on my foot, 4 broken toes. Was not a big trailer either.
