where did my brakes go?
There is no end to the things people have removed from this poor airstream. Now we find out our brakes are gone. Every pic I show hubby of brakes for sale on airstream sites, he says, "that's not what we have." So what DID we have? Any guesses? What do we need to buy? The wires are there, just cut.

I'd maybe think new axles with brakes and drums.

Have the axles been replaced? If not, maybe you should start by evaluating them. If you need a new set of axles, you can order them all set up with brakes.

What do you have? Is this taken apart I see no lug nut studs? That old new axels is probably a must.

Yes, this pic is behind the tire where the brakes should be. I guess its the backing plate?

Looks like the backing plates have been stripped of all brake parts. Can you measure the brake drums to determine if they are 10" or 12"? How many bolts hold the backing plates on the axle flange?

How much of a hurry are you in? I have a friend who I will be helping to replace the axles in October. She had new 12" brakes installed on the old axles. She took the trailer on one trip. The brakes have never been used since she made the trip without a brake controller in the TV.
You may be able to make a deal.

No big hurry. We probably won't be ready for camping until next summer. That would be great. What kind of brakes do you think these are?

Non-existent.
Seriously, you should have 12x2 brakes on your trailer. If the brake parts are missing, I'd take a close look at the drums, as well. It's very possible you would replace all the missing parts only to find out the drums are in too bad shape to use them.

I have a set of 4 new in box Dexter 12-2 loaded backing plates that I'd sell cheaply (no drums though)... pm me for details.
