What size brakes on my 1991 Excella
I am the 3rd owner of a 25 ft, dual axle, 1991 Excella. My trailer brakes are not activating. My TV is a 2007 Ford F-250 with factory tow commander. I pulled all 4 trailer wheels apart yesterday and found magnet wires broken on two wheels which I repaired. Mechanically all 4 wheels look good, with no broken or loose parts, good shoe and brake pad movement and all magnet wear surfaces square. After 7 hours work it feels like the brakes slightly hit when manually activating the brake system, but when in drive, and in idle, and the controller manually activated to 100% the truck idles forward when I take my foot off the brake pedal, so no holding power. Later today I plan to hookup my friends F-350 to see if the problem is with the TV or the Airstream. Assuming that the issue is the same after the test I will focus on the trailer and brake system. Trying to get out in front of the issue I see etrailer sells complete brake assemblies as a package but not sure how to measure the brake size in order to purchase if needed. Do I measure the inside diameter of the drum? Any and all feedback on my situation as I have described it will be greatly appreciated.
