Yes I think the water had something to do with it and the 7 way connection was sloppy. I did pack it with dialectric grease. But the fact is that the second the fuse was plugged into the empty slot, the trailer lights came on. That seems more than coincidental.
Happily we have made it to Florida, its 80 degrees and I've got sand on my toes. All is well.

Glad to hear the problem is solved!

And, yes, when it's 80 degrees and there is sand between the toes, all IS well!

Another simple thing, the umbilical cord was loose. When you "lock" it into the plug with the tab on the cover... what happens if that pops off even part way? Use a velcro strap or mini-bungee to strap the cover down on the cord and double check that the plug is all the way in.

+1 on the dialectric grease too.
