Replacement Brake Assembly

Have a 2004 25' Safari. 50,000k and time for new brake assembly (comlete) all around. Checked my manual and all that I can find is the A/S part number. Spoke to a dealer who sells Dexter. He provided me with a part number that he felt "Would do the job".
Would feel more comfortable with info from this forum. Part number anyone?
thnx

Are you going with Dexter? Are they 10 or 12 inch?

I just installed new Dexters.

You can buy the complete assembly for far less than you can buy the parts. And changing them out is a lot easier.

Try this.

another source is etrailer.com 12" Dexters. I just replaced all four for just over $200.00 dollars. Bolted up perfect.

Any way to know exactly what would have been installed on my trailer at the plant? I want to get a full set, but even if I was at the trailer, I not sure I would be able to recognize which axle and what size I need.

TIA,

Aage

Aage,

I too have a '74 sov. They are 12" x 2" brake assembly w/back plate. Beyond that you need 2 rights and 2 lefts.

Thanks for the info, Dave.

Do the Dexter brake assemblies fit axles other than their own, or do I have to know the make of the axle and go with the same brand?

Brake assemblies are a commodity. Once you have the size defined they are interchangeable.

Dexter sells the whole assembly with self adjusting brakes too. They may cost more.

Dave,

Can you check that name for me, please? I see and Eastern Marine, but they don't seem to carry back plates.
