Rebuilding Brakes on a 69 Overlander

Hello All,

You were so helpful last time so here is another question.

I've done both disc and shoe brake jobs on autos but I have no experience with trailers. Would you recommend this as a task that someone could perform?

My second question is has anyone changed to disc brakes and would you recommend doing this on the 69 Overlander?

Drum brakes on trailers are very similar to automotive drum brakes. There are a number of You Tube videos out there.
Where auto drum brakes are activated by a wheel cylinder the trailer brakes are activated by an electro magnet. When power is applied to the electro magnet it clamps itself to the surface of the brake drum. As the drum turns it forces the shoes out against the drum in a similar fashion to that of the hydraulic wheel cylinder.
Adjustment of the brake shoes is virtually the same as on an automobile or truck with drum brakes.

You can just buy a complete assembly and change the whole thing easier and quicker than changing the pads...
