Prodigy controller wiring
I purchased a prodigy brake controller for my 2008 silverado. I have one in my 2005 silverado that came with an attachment harness-plug and play-no problem. On the 2008 you have to hard wire to the harness in the truck. Well.... I found my wires, connected them properly and I have no voltage on the red/black wire from vehicle which is supossed to power up the black wire to the controller. Looked in owners manual, found fuse for the brake contoller in the under hood box. Checked fuse and I have 12.6 volts. What am I doing wrong or what is wrong???? Please help, thanks

Hate to ask the obvious but could it be a switched circuit that requires the key to be in the "run" position to work? That is how it is on mine....

Forgot to mention that. I did turn the key on-no voltage. Started truck- no voltage.

I did eventually find the problem. On the 2008 Silverado, the red/black wire(supplies voltage to controller) is not hooke up. It is tucked up by the left fender taped to one of the harnesses going into the fuse center. Untaped and connected to the large silver post at the front of the fuse center. VOILA!!!!! power to the controller. Hooked up trailer everything is fine.

Having an 2007 Denali, I was sure that the Prodigy was wired for plug and play with the towing package on the truck...the previous (GMT 800's) it was plug and play.
So when I saw the wires running to the fuse box (which is done sloppily to boot) I assume the install shop did it incorrectly, and called them on it.
Guess not!
