Once I get it going, how do I stop it?

My '77 6.0 Metre Minuet is almost ready to hit the road. However, I have a BIG problem. My TV is a 2000 Land Rover Discovery II. First, it has the European electric harness. I have the adapter to convert to standard 4 pin, but I believe the electric brakes need the 7 pin connection. Next, I have no clue as to which brake controller to use. I've looked at the Prodigy, but the wiring for it and most others don't even mention Land Rover. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd be forever grateful. (And I'm trying to make it to the Pyramid Lake AS event.) TJ

You plug an adapter into the 4 flat and go to a 7 pin for the trailer. The 3 wires you will need to add are brakes, 12 volt power (charge) and aux (backup lights?)

The prodigy comes with a standard wire harness. You will need to find the correct wires in your TV and tap into them. The directions are very clear as to the install. Running the brake andpower lines to the rear of your TV might not be very easy. I would not bother with the backup lights. If you do not feel confident doing this, don't! Get a professional.

tcjx4, i have a 77 minuet, my brake controller is a reese. it works well. has a digital setting for how much voltage is supplyed to the brakes, and another for how fast the voltage is applyed to the brakes. jeff

Thanks guys. However, my first concern is the electronics of my TV. My wishful fairtale was that someone would tell me that there is a pigtail made specifically for my TV. Alas, not to be. One thing for sure...I'm taking it to a professional!

I also have a LR2 2000 . The harness and recp supplied is not something I was able to find adpt for . It connects behind the passenger side taillamp . Remove that and the connections are there. I replaced mine with a standard 7 pin . You will have to run a brake lead back from the controller as well as 12v charge line . Also most important a good ground to the socket . Also remember 188 HP and a short wheelbase . I sometimes pull the Carevel with it but not very far.

I also have a Prodigy, no direct harness available, and a '77' Minuet. We followed Prodigy directions for the install. Not an easy task but all works well. Took about 4 hours including string wires and solder all connections. The activator wire under the dash was the hardest part. Friend had to lay on his back with the wire and solder gun right above his face. What a friend! He did it after seeing me struggle with the solder gun. I came back in the next day and rerouted some of the wires. I also had to rewire the coach wire to the brakes as it had a direct short that took another four hours.

I'm not planning to go too far. I've had it on the freeway several times already and it feels good to me. However, "good" is a relative term. I have no reference point. I'm planning to attend the Cali Rally to get more "professional" help. Thanks for your feedback.
