Measurements

I think I have that style. Unfortunately they are at my storage locker. Can you wait a few days? I agree that if the screws are not decapitated I would keep using them.

Both pics are of the same magnet. Front and back. Sources? ..........is there a trailer store in your part of the world? They would have brake parts. If you have to go to lots of effort, get a loaded brake assembly. It will have the shoes, springs, oval magnets, backing plates the whole deal. If it's easy to get parts you could just replace the magnets. And based on your pic your magnets look OK.

I do not have a set of new shoes to give you that dimention. (Any help out there?)

However, if your question pertains as to how thick before replacement, I would throw this out. If the shoes are rivited, then down to a 1/32" before the rivit head. In otherwords just before the rivit head touches the drum. If they are bonded, then when the lining reaches the same thickness as the metal backing, it's time to get a new set.

Remco:

Try Boopark B. V. in Ridderkerk. They distribute Dexter axle and brake parts.
E-mail: info@boopark.nl
Internet: www.boopark.nl

Contact: A.P. Boomgaards

CAUTION! This web site contains an awful e-tune.

Prices

Excuse me? They cost about $90 here, maybe they made a mistake. I would e-mail Dexter with a compaint and see if they can pressure Boopark to be more realistic.

For that price, they should take you out to dinner and a movie first!

For reference, just the brake magnets cost about $20.

Maybe that's why we are getting so many EU people over here shopping for shoes and clothing.

Remco,

I called a local supplier

Redneck Trailer supply

For the Hayes 12 inch loaded plate it was 82.45 USD each.

I am sure they can also just sell the magnet. If you want this place is local to me. I can get them for you and ship them to you. Please PM me if you want to do this.

Unhappy

When you add import duties, tax & transport & dealers profit , any US price should be more than doubled to get the Euro-rip off price . The same is true with car parts or clothing.

Shipping

Sending items across borders has gotten a little touchy these days. It's not that the technology does not exist. It's that the axis of evil uses the same techology. It then becomes how to sort the good packages from the ones that go boom. And that costs $ and adds time.

Dumb question

Have you tried www.dexteraxle.com

They have a on-line store, don't know if they ship outside the US.
Certainly worth checking

They have a great site - lots of documentation, manuals, parts, etc.

They only show one round magnet and it did not look like yours.

Have you checked with www.inlandrv.com - they specialize in older AS trailers - shoot them a email. Again - don't know about the shipping, but I would speculate that they do ship anywhere.
(their website only lists a tiny fraction of what they have / can get)
