LED Trailer & Brake warning fix for Touaregs.

Here is a fix for the Touaregs out there that have the warning problem. It is just using a couple of resistors.I put in the 1 watt resistors and so far they are working well.

Here are the pics.I just connected one wire to the bron and the other to the red one.I then connected the two together to one wire and grounded it and the warnings went away.Pretty cool.

Mod

I just got this from my Tech at the dealership. It seems VWOA has a fix for this and he e-mailed this to me.Here it is.No more warning signs anymore.
Here is the e-mail.

Daniel,

I hope that this helps. Remember that these resistors need to be metal oxide and from what engineering was telling VWoA these should be 3 watt. I know that we have used 1 watt type from Radio Shack and they work sufficiently in the past.

Please keep in mind that you have to identify what wires are what on your harness. They may vary depending on the manufacturer of the harness adaptor. I would assume that any LED light needs to be modified for correct operation. As I mentioned to you I would modify the adaptor "pig tail" harness so that the trailer would work properly on another vehicle and also that if you use another trailer with regular lights on this Touareg that it will also work properly.

If you need any more information about this fix, send me a e-mail and I will send you some more photos etc.

Here is the pic for how it is done.
Remember the resistor are 100 ohm 3 watt.

Thanks for this fix Devo! After a week on the road with our Bambi + LEDs and our Touareg, I can't tell you how many times we woke up the baby with the Touareg LED light alarm!

I can't wait to wire mine for this, but I still don't have my Touareg to test it.

Plat and Devo, you should have also noticed the proper function of the trailer turn signal indicator on the speed face. Cool, ain't it?

Yea I did notice this after you had told me about it Aircooled. It is really cool to see the arrows flash to tell you it is working.I just love the way this vehicle works to tell you what is wrong wIth your car or trailer if something goes wrong.

I've not noticed this. Is this a nav-only feature? I assume this is something in the MFI?

It should be in the speedo face, on the upper right. It only flashes when the turn signal is activated. I'm not sure if this is a color/mono MFI issue or not. What year is your vehicle?

Signal

Mine is on the lower left just under the speedo marker when i am not moving. You wont see this new blinker light until you put the resistors in place to take out the warnings.

We've got a 2004 V6 "stripper" + sound system I. We bought in December 2003 and have a vin in the low 20,000s. I'm sure Devo is right that we just need the resistors, as we've never towed with anything before the A/S.
