Kodiak Hydraulic disc brakes

I saw a display of the system at the 2004 International and was intrigued. It is a hydraulic disc system that bolts on to the standard duratorque axle.

The sales guy said they sell through distribution/installers but I was curious and thought I would post what I can find on it for those that are considering a replacement on the either the vac u brakes that are OEM or installing a new set of axles and want the stopping power offered by a disc brake system. I have no affiliation with the company, just have always been intrigued.

The First tidbit:

A substitute for the Kodiak disc brakes pads can be found in most auto parts stores. The substitute pad is for the 1982-1992 Chevy Cavalier, Part# D289

The second is that the system is not new. The Kodiak system has been being used on heavy boat trailers with a surge head for years. So the only new thing is the power head.

Brett,
I was toying with the idea of using disc brakes on the 63 Overlander. Dexter makes and sells a kit, and an electric actuator as well, but it's very expensive at $340.00 PER WHEEL! plus $ 700+ for the actuator.
Champion trailer parts has disc brake kits, stainless, for a lot less.
Do you know the Kodiak pricing? I guess I could do a google search.
Any more info you have is appreciated.
