I am overhauling a 66 Overlander. The brake shoes, magnets and drums are fine, it's just that most of the springs are broken. Any chance at finding a spring kit? I think it is the Hayes brake system. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Tom

It should be 12" brakes on your trailer. Just go to almost any trailer repair shop, and pick them up. They are standard springs that have been used for decades on almost every trailer with electric brakes. They are not Airstream-specific.
Now, if they are really old brakes, I would strongly recommend replacing them with loaded backing plates. They will come with shoes, springs, magnets, and adjusters, and are pretty much bolt-on. SHoes don't last forever, no matter how thick the friction material is. Eventually the epoxy that holds the friction material to the table will fail, and most likely will cause the brakes on that wheel to lock.

I carry an extra set I got from Federated auto parts but I know NAPA also carries just about everything for them. In a pinch you probably could get away with an old 10 bolt chevy kit and pilfer springs to get you to a repaire shop or campground or home. I agree with the loaded back plates, I learned the hard way on that issue

I'm not sure how much of a hurry you are in but I am in the process of installing a new dexter axle on my 66 Safari. I could send you the old springs if you like. I wouldn't think this would be a long term fix but that is up to you to decide.
