Hitch light plugs

Ok all you towing experts. I am getting set to tow my saturn behind my motorhome. The Saturn has the 6 pin light plug, with 3 wires running to it. The Airstream has the flat plug, which I want to replace with a female connector 6 pin. The question is wiring, how do I make sure I am wiring the new 6 pin female jack right.
Too many varying wire colors and 4 wires on the airstream, 3 on the car end. Thanks for any tips or ideas to make this a smooth splice.

You may want to get with Fred on this issue. His MH was all setup for dinghy towing and he has the pigtail. He may be able to tell you what pins do what lites. His pigtail looks like the one on the left in your photos.

Alan,

I have a sheet titled "A.T.A. & S.A.E. Wiring Codes Recommended Standard"

White - Ground Return
Brown - "3 bar marker (ICC) & tail lamps"
Yellow - Left turn signal
Green - Right turn signal

Here is a photo of my hook-ups. Don't ask me what they are for.

Alan,

That sheet also lists the 6-pole markings

White - Ground Return ("GD")
Brown - "Tail (6-pole only) Marker & Clearance lamps" ("TM")
Yellow - Left turn signal ("LT")
Green - Right turn signal ("RT")

Fred,

Based on the first pictures the left one is a 7 way plug for towing a trailer equipped with brakes. Like a bambi. The one on the right is for the toad.
