so all is working now and correctly?

this issue of the chevrolets having a dummy fuse has been discussed multiple times...

but still regularly bites folks who plan on towing.

it seems like they have created this nagging issue by leaving out a nickel fuse.

Well the 12v line is active and I guess I won't know if all is well until I take that trip up North and the brakes behave the WHOLE way! They always worked like they should... right up until they didn't (randomly).

please refresh my memory. who installed the brake controller in the truck?

WOW! I now have replaced my old Draw Tite controller with the Hayes Energize XPC and also have the 12v functioning with the FUSE. To set up the brake controller (pendulum) I loaded the truck (I'm leaving soon for BB rally anyway) and pulled the trailer into the middle of the street, where it's most level. Then I pulled the trailer forward and back playing with the brakes. When I squeezed the manual control- it was like whiplash! No matter how high the old controller was set, (or how charged the battery was) the trailer brakes never had such power. It's awesome!

I have kept, but not installed, the new unit that was sent to be sure no problems arise on our trip- but if all goes well I'll send it back. I'm pretty confident I can go back to worrying about my tires blowing or windows braking, or backing into something..or
