Endeavor Brake Controller

We are headed back to Cincinnati to pick up our Airstream. On the last try the brake controller we had installed did not work. Having a new controller installed in Cincy so we can obtain local help if needed.

We are planning on buying a Hayes Endeavor controller and as I read the manual, the controller senses the deceleration of the TV and applies power to the brakes on the trailer. If at a standstill, we can check out the circuit by pushing the manual slide on the brake controller and we will hear the Airstream brakes activate.

If this is the case, then if we are stopped and push on the TV brake pedal, we should not hear the Airstream brake controller activate.

Do I have this correct?

Thanks in advance for the replies.

The manual lever will apply brakes in proportion to how far you move the lever whether you are rolling or stopped.

While moving the controller will only apply the trailer brakes proportional to the force applied to the TV brakes. You should see an amperage reading displayed on the controller showing the amount of current going to the trailer brakes.
