Do you need trailer brakes?

I would say with the exception of Newfoundland and Kentucky most Airstreams owners would be required. I would highly recommend them in all cases.

Regardless of what the law might say in any particular jurisdiction, if you're pulling an Airstream, you do need trailer brakes.

Definately TRALOR BREAKS. You will wear out your TV brakes in a heartbeat. Besides I think most states in THE USA Require traylor breaks on anything over so much weight.

It is not impossible to lose tow vehicle brakes.

When towing a trailer, without brakes, how then could you stop the tow vehicle?

Actually, proper trailer brakes are an additional safety factor for you.
