I'll state I've been very happy with the disc brakes we added to the Tin Pickle; she needed new axles and, while not cheap, discs seemed like a good safety feature. I installed them myself, and yes, proper bleeding is important. There is a bit of brake lag from application to full pressure; this isn't an issue for me. The brakes are impressively linear in stopping effort; when modulating the current directly via the lever on the controller this is particularly obvious.
