Michelle…Yes?? I’m asking if the Actibrake electro-hydraulic disc brake system is the standard brakes on a new unit. Please forgive my ignorance. By the way…I just love your web site!!!

Dexter

I looked at some new classics at Safford RV in VA a few weeks ago. They used the Actibrake controller with Dexter disk brakes. You could see "Dexter" right on the caliper through the spokes of the mags. I would assume then that they also had Dexter axles, although I'd heard that Airstream was going back to Henschen.

Last year when I visited Jackson Center, they had Kodiak brakes on them.

Michelle…so sorry!!! I didn’t see your second post. It landed on the page brake. Thanks for your answer, bottom line, I’ll wait for the controller until I buy the trailer. Thanks Jim for your input as well.

Just bought a new 30'Classic and a Prodigy controller (yes it is recommended by A/S and Tekonsha states it is a new model that is compatible with the actibrake system). Works fine. I, too, had a 'hot' brake smell the first outing, which I contributed to new brakes and the fact that I was experimenting with different boost settings. Tires and brake discs were no hotter than the tires/brakes on my truck. Next trip was fine, no fooling with the controller, no smell.

Thank you.
I am pretty sure they are still using kodiaks but I was told they switched back to Henchens (sp?). Best to give them a call.

I have a 2006 25 classic with the actibrake and the prodigy. Mine works smoothly. Other than checking it after each hookup I never have a need to change the settings its that consistant. There may be something better but this works fine. Just thought I would throw my 2 cents in.
