Question Dexter vs Hayes?

I just bought replacement bearings for all 4 wheels at $250(not installed) and now need to replace all 4 brakes systems. A local garage suggested I would save $$ buying the complete brake assembly at $90 each. Are these figures out of line? The existing assemblies have one large spring on top. Dexter's have 2 springs and Hayes has 1 like the originals, does it matter which replacement assemblies I use? Also have done some research and found hub/drums with greased bearings in place at a lower cost than buying just the bearings. Please advise which way to go and need suggestions where to buy. Please email me fishhouseart@yahoo.com

Complete brake assemblies can often be found for less than $50. Try a search for Eastern Marine. The Dexter assemblies will fit.
Hayes is out of business I think.

I suspect you way overpaid for the bearings also

$250 buck for bearings, ouch. Look at etrailer.com. They have bearing and complete backing plates. I have ordered several items from them and get great service.
