Dexter Brake Pads
I have a 2006 model year 30 foot Classic with Dexter hydraulic brakes. I am trying to locate a part number for the brake pads. I have queried Airstream, but have not yet received an answer. Does anyone have a Dexter part number for the pads? Do I go to Dexter for the pads, or can they be located elsewhere?
Many thanks,
F. A. Meloy

I think I have the part number for mine at home. But I also used the Dexter website to research and found all component part numbers on it.
Curious as to what triggered replacement ? All wheels or one or two?
Highly suggest inspecting caliper piston seals for damage or cuts.

See if your ID label is still on the axle tube. I would give you my info, but I hesitate to ASSUME that the axles and brakes are the same. They probably are....but.... I would take the axle info to a Dexter Distributor as I have always found them to be more knowledgeable and cheaper than elsewhere. Get ready....these pads are considerably more expensive than auto pads. IIRC they are $250 - $300 per set of four.

We are currently on an extended trip. I took the opportunity to crawl under the trailer while we were parked on a paved pad to check the brake pads. There is plenty of pad to finish out this trip, but I want to replace all of the pads prior to our next long trip, so I am trying to locate the part number so that I can order in early August when we return home.

I have sent the axle tube label information to both Airstream and Dexter with a request for the Dexter part number for the brake pads. I am currently awaiting a reply. I am not in a time crunch, and it is a major holiday weekend.

I just made a post on the service manual for Dexter axles. The information you seek may be in that document.

I have part# K71-629-00 for my axle....but double check per your label. You need quantity of 2 for that part#.
Here's my label:

Andy's part number is 86625.
Dexter's part number is K71-629-00.
Airstream's part number is 684008.
These numbers will get enough pads to do one axel and will cost around $200 (+/-) per axel..
Thanks to all that replied.

My '08 30' Classic S/O also uses the K71-629-00 pads, and K71-631-00 rotor.
I'm finding discussions where folks are using 'Kodiak' replacement parts.
Is this legit? These Dexter parts are $$$$
($168 for a pair of pads!)

Found a set of pads here for $119 shipped.
Something curious about brake pad wear on my trailer; the rear axle pads wear much faster... unlike my truck, where the front axle pads wear faster.
Has that been the experience of other tandem axle owners?
