First is important, after that I keep an eye on temperature of of hubs/wheel on every stop. Proper brake controller adjustment is key for longevity of shoes and keeping heat out of the hub/bearings.
My last trailer had 57,000 miles when I traded.
I pulled, inspected, adjusted twice. Never packed a bearing never replaced a part ,always looked like it should. Towed on Goodyear marathon at 8000 plus pounds, never a flat or blowout. Some would call it luck at my towing speed with my SOB but it worked. Hope my Airstream treats me the same!
