Brakes, Left or Right Hand

I'm installing new backing plates and drums on my 86 sovereign and understand the backing plates are specific to right or left side. Can someone tell me which is the right side of the unit and which is the left?

The left backing plate has the actuator arm from the magnet on the left hand side as you are facing it. The right hand backing plate has the arm on the right as it is facing you.

Same as a tow vehicle. Driver's side left...Passenger side right. Hope this helps. I just replaced brakes and bearings on our '96 Excella 30'.

If you are passed out face down on the floor with your head toward the front end, then your left elbow will be pointed toward the left side of the trailer.

Hope this helps.

Left side of the trailer is the same as the left side of your car. It would be the side closest to the yellow lines in the middle of the road, also known as streetside.

. . . and what if you're boondocking and and can't see the yellow line? This is all so very confusing. . . .

I checked their profile, and unless they've started driving on the British side of the road since I moved away, the left side of the trailer is the one closest to the yellow line, or oncoming cars. Or the trees on the left side of the trailer.
