Brake rattle

I have a '78 Airstream Excella 500 and I'm wondering where to buy the disc brake pads. My pads are not totally worn out yet, but there may be 20 percent left. I have a lot of rattles in the brakes at low speed and I pulled a wheel to check it out. What I believe is that the rotor grabs the pads and it pulls the caliper up and the caliper hits the upper portion. I've pulled it over 1000 miles this spring, so I don't think it's a safety issue. If I replace the pads, maybe the rattling will go away. Does anyone have any comments or experience with brake rattles?

I'm no expert...Just getting that out of the way . It sounds like the spring clip is missing. The is a slightly bent piece of metal that acts like a spring between caliper and the bracket that hangs on to it. If your caliper is riding loose it will chatter... Hope this helps Lee
