Brake locked up on '67 caravel

Hi, I just purchased a 67 caravel fixer upper. PO said the wheel locked up when they moved it years ago. I pulled the wheel and checked it out. I am sure the brakes engaged when it was plugged in and they are stuck tight on the drum. This side hub does not spin unless forced hard and you can hear the brakes scaping on the inside. Does anyone know an easy fix? A temporary fix is fine as i will just need to get it on the road. PO says i can leave it on her property for a month until i can get it fixed. This happened to me one time while i was pulling a trailer, the brake locked on one side and pulled over, luckily right at a mechanic. He took the wheel off, pulled the bearing cover and pulled the drum off. He then disconnected the wires on the brakes as a temp fix. he said the magnet part can go bad and that i can go to a trailer shop for another one. I am guessing i will need to do the same thing he did????
