You'll have as many choices and opinions here as there are brands of equipment. Read the threads, and make a great decision. Goodyear Marathon radials are a good choice as are Maxxis, and Carlilse. Tekonsha brand controllers such as Prodigy are very well liked as a brake controller.

A tekonsha brake controller should work fine. I had a prodigy that worked fine until I replaced it tow command (mae by tekonsha) which came with my new truck. Tekonsha
A lot of people are having problems with Goodyear Marathons. I have not in my 45,000 miles of towing. Marathons are the most widely supported tires.

We have both a brake controller and tires. I heartily recommend them.
Seriously, however, I like a brake controller with a wheel that allows me to adjust the gain. Not a slider, not a push button. The two or three that I've bought over the years have been from names that had been in business for a while.
Other than that, I've no preference and bet that 98/100 people couldn't tell one from the other in the dark. All three ran around a C note, so I didn't get too worked up over differences.
Tires too. We all have our pet brands. Do they make a difference? Who knows. Maxxis makes some adequate if uninspired (IMO) bike tires, but maybe their truck tires are fair value.

I had a Prodigy brake controller and could never get rid of slow speed jerkiness. They even sent me a new one free. I bought the new P3 and it solved the problem. I would recommend that unit. The Prodigy customer service is outstanding. Ron
