I have a 81 24ft international and when I hook up to my 2006 land cruiser the brakes lock up. When I picked it up last week we had to cut the electric brake wires to get it home, I have a friend with a 2008 Safari and plugged in to his unit and the controller says it was connected so I assume that the problem is with my trailer. Is there anything in the fuses that could contribute to the brakes locking. When I hooked up to pick up my unit the controller said not connected. Carl in Lakeland Fl. phone 863-670-6395 thanks

It would appear that the tow vehicle is sending a "hot" 12 volt current to the trailer that is in turn locking the brakes on. The hot wire (12 volt) and the brake wire could have been reversed by a previous owner. ( on the trailer)
But to be sure, Start by checking the leads from the female plug end on your tow vehicle to make sure they are wired correctly. Eliminate one problem source at a time.
Good luck.......

The break away switch on the trailer may be activated. Even if the battery in the trailer were dead or not there, the break away switch if activated would apply the brakes using power from the battery charging line from the TV. Just something to look at.
