Brake Controller Communications

I have a 2009 Chevrolet 2500HD pickup with integrated brake controller. I’m attempting with partial success to hook up Tekonsha P3 brake controller to my 1991 Airstream, triple axle, with Kodiak disc and Actibrake. We have gotten to the point where the trailer brakes work, but the display module on the brake controller flashes “no trailer connection” then flashes back to the set-up screen. The mechanic put a new pigtail connector on the trailer and a new ground wire on the trailer, no change in the message. The mechanic now feels that the trailer is not sending a good signal back to the brake controller in the truck! Does anyone know how we can renew the vows between the truck and the trailer (make them communicate together) so the happy campers can again roll down the road without “no trailer connection” flashing in my face?
Next cool one on me.
Matt

I would contact the manufacturer and talk to a tech person. You do have to 'synchronize' the unit with the trailer when you first hook them together each time.

I just installed a P3 in my 2001 Tundra. The instructions were very clear that you need a direct ground to the battery terminal not just a chassis ground. Don't know if that would make any difference but you might check the ground.
