Looking at a new Duramax and wondering what seem to be the most popular choice for brake controllers and why. Please chime in fellow members and thanks in advance for your valued opinions.

My vote is for the Jordan brake controller. I installed this myself and during the test drive when we picked up the Classic the owner of my dealership was so impressed that he noted that he would be stocking these.

Had the prodigy, sold it to Twink, now I have the Jordan. Jordan works great.

Prodigy works for me. Have had Draw-tite and Reese before. Easy do-it-yourself install if factory wiring harness is there. If buying a new TV, only makes sense to pay the xtra $265 for the factory reciever and wiring harness.

Brakesmart. Expensive, but works perfectly every time, with absolutely no need for any maintenance or adjustment. Since it reads the brake pressure directly from the tow vehicle brake system, it turns the trailer's brakes literally into on extension of the tow vehicle.

I vote for the Jordan. I really like the ammeter on the front. It lets me know how much juice is going to the brake magnets. This information is helpful to know if your brakes need adjustment, (high current, low stopping power) or if your current is lower than before, you may have a bad magnet or broken magnet wire. Using the current adjustment on the front, I know how much to set it, if I am towing my flatbed equipment trailer empty or horse trailer empty. Saves on skidding the tires and creating flat spots on them!

Yup. I have Marks old one and I bought a second one for the Suburban. On the new GM vehicles the Prodigy is pretty much plug and play.

The Prodigy *might* really be the only way to go if you buy a GM vehicle with hydroboost brakes. It's been my understanding that if you have Hydroboost brakes (and I've verifed that this is the case on my '04 Suburban) that you can get excessive brake pedal travel. Unless Jordan has overcome this somehow the cable dependent Jordan might be an issue. I don't know if it still is as I haven't looked into it for years now that I've had the both Prodigy units (one in each vehicle).

Both controllers IMHO are excellent, so whichever way you can go, you won't be disappointed.
