Any value in Old Parts?

I just replaced all the brakes and backing plates on my "72 Safari. Is worth keeping the original parts around?

I don't think so, not in old brakes and backing plates. But then People buy the funniest things sometimes.

You could try ebay or craigslist...

I just replaced a broken brake spring with one from an old unit I had in the pile of old parts. I usually keep things around till just before I need them. This time I got lucky.

I keep or buy these things when really cheap. These brakes are used on a lot of things. I have several utility trailers that only move occasional short distances and will use used parts for them.
For example my Back hoe moving trailer has eight 12 inch electric brakes so a stock of used parts is useful.
I keep a spare magnet and set of springs in each Airstream also

Someone once said, " One's Man's junk is another Man's Treasure", I don't think that will ever change. If you are not sure you want to keep it around, just put in the forums for free and see what happens.
Come to think of it. I'm made up of Old parts.

I recently placed an add locally for the 2 complete axles with backing plates, newish 12" brakes and drums and the electrics that go with them from our Trade Wind in a local paper. I, of course, said that the torsions were bad but anyone building a utility trailer w/springs could use the b-plates etc. Not one bite. As for 'one man's treasure' I keep around 2 donor cars to feed our '71 convertible TV. Each time I start to 'get rid of them' I find that I need another very hard to find part. A few weeks ago the speedometer/odometer went bonkers in the convertible. I pulled one from a donor and rebuilt the convertible's. As for 'being made up of old parts I have new hips (3 years) but they are still only as good as the old parts that I have. The new hips are great but my knees are getting junky! .......
