99 Suburban pre-wired for brake controller?

My 1999 Suburban came from the factory with the "towing package," and now I need to wire it for a brake controller. Does anyone know if it should be pre-wired with a connector plug for a brake controller? If it is pre-wired, what (and where under the dash) should I look for in terms of wires and connectors?

Thanks, Hank

Not sure the 99s came prewired. My 97 had the wiring in the harness but did not have the receptacle at the rear bumper or a connection forward.

Take a look under the hood just below the steering column for 4 wires folded back on themselves and taped. Also look inside the drivers side rear frame member. There should be a hole on the inside of the frame about 15 ins. from the end of the frame. The wires will be inside that hole folded back inside.

HowieE, thanks for the information. I have found the wires at the rear of the vehicle, and I will see what I can find up front. Hank

You will want to buy the adapter that
will connect the brake controller to your
TV. Two small screws to mount. If prewired
correctly, you should have a 7-pin outlet by
your bumber. A notepad and a simple test light
will be useful when testing and taking notes
at the bumper.

A couple of schematics printed would be useful. They
can be found and printed here in the forum.

<From TV> and <into trailer> TWO PARTS

Left blinker
Right blinker
Running lights
Brake lights
Backup lights
Power for brakes
Power for battery charging from TV to trailer

I think 2000 and later Subs came prewired from the factory. LJH
