I can't find it, but someone said that the reason the controller won't work with disk brakes is that it is looking for the characteristic impedence of the magnets. If it doesn't find them, it thinks the brakes are kaput.
A possible fix would be to wire two electric brake magnets in parallel with the input to the hydraulic pump--the controller would then see a "normal" electric brake system. The magnets could be housed with the pump and the benefit is, they would never wear out!
