1966 Silver Streak brakes

Hi Folks,
I'm new here and hoping to be the new owner of a 1966 26' double axle Silver Streak.
The trailer needs a brake & lamp inspection and that is why I'm here in this forum. I'm concerned with parts availability & cost for revamping the braking system on this trailer. Any feedback or educated guesses on parts cost (I'll be doing it myself) would be greatly appreciated. The trailer has not been on the road in 20+ years.

Post a picture of the brakes after you have removed the hub. I am not familiar with Silver Streak's choices in running gear as this is an Airstream website. However the picture will say a lot.

Likely it isn't difficult or too spendy and parts will be fairly easy to find. Trailer drum brakes from the 1960s are not that complex and much of that stuff is still used and made today.

Brake parts are usually pretty generic and not hard to find. Often trailers sit still for most of their lives and the old brakes are OK other than some surface rust or some wiring problems.

1966 Silver Streak brakes

Old thread, but:

Best to repair what is present. Those are Kelsey-Hayes brakes on Hadco axles.

Backing plates, etc, are different.

There are some restorations around here of contemporary SS trailers. One is also linked to its own site. Find that one fir lots of info.

(Mods. Can this be moved to Vintage Kin? Thx)
